Updated: Nov 5

Dear Neighbors,

We’d like to share an update on recent construction activities at 160 Freelon.

This past week (October 5–October 11), the construction team, Cahill Guzman Joint Venture, continued progress on the first-floor mat slab. The waterproofing and vapor-mitigation membrane are now complete, and formwork is in place. Electricians and plumbers have been installing conduit and piping within the mat slab. A mobile crane will be on site Monday, October 13, to assist with setting the base section of the tower crane and will remain on site as work progresses. While cranes are in use on site, for safety, you may hear brief horn or whistle sounds; these are standard safety signals used whenever overhead loads are in motion to protect workers. Thank you for your understanding as we follow these safety requirements.

What’s Ahead

Crews will continue installing rebar, piping, and formwork through next week, with the top mat rebar installation beginning Thursday, October 16. A mobile crane will return to assist with this work and remain on site into the following week (October 20–24).

Rain is forecasted Monday through Wednesday (October 13–15), and the team is working to stay on track for our Saturday, October 25 mat slab pour. This will be one of the project’s largest pours—approximately 2,000 cubic yards of concrete placed in a single day. To allow the concrete to dry over the course of the day, this work is scheduled for a Saturday early-morning pour beginning around 4 a.m. on October 25.

What This Means for You

  • Expect recurring deliveries of rebar, piping, and formwork materials over the next few weeks via the Bryant Street gate.

  • Please note that no construction parking or deliveries are permitted on Freelon or Welsh Streets. Signage has been posted to help reinforce this rule.

  • If you notice any vehicles parked improperly, or have questions or concerns, feel free to reach out using the contact information listed on the site gates.

Thank You for Your Patience

We, again, appreciate your continued communication and understanding as the team makes steady progress. Although Monday, October 13 is a holiday for some, crews will be on site continuing their scheduled tasks.
