Dear Neighbors,

We’d like to share an update on recent construction activities at 160 Freelon. This month, the construction team, Cahill Guzman Joint Venture completed excavation and site grading to establish the footprint of the building.

The entire site is now covered with the white waterproofing membrane. Over the next several days, the team will continue installing the membrane. Next, the team will begin installing rebar to form the project’s foundation for the future ground floor slab.

On Saturday, September 27, construction crews will return at 8:00 a.m. to continue installing the membrane. Toward the end of the workday, a smoke test will be performed to confirm the membrane is properly installed. This test uses the same type of non-toxic smoke found in Halloween machines. It disperses quickly and is completely safe. The fire department has been notified in advance to prevent any false alarms.

Next week, the construction team will continue rebar installation and perform the first concrete pour scheduled for Friday, October 3.

The construction team continues to emphasize safety and respect for neighbors. As the team grows, every new worker goes through an orientation that includes parking rules and site guidelines. To avoid congestion along Freelon Street and Welsh Street, signs have been ordered to ensure crews enter the Project site properly.

What This Means For You

• You may see rebar deliveries and installation continue over the coming week.

• A harmless smoke test will take place on Saturday, September 27 to confirm the membrane is properly sealed.

• A concrete pour is scheduled for Friday, October 3, which will involve a concrete pump on site.

• If you notice any construction vehicles parked on Freelon or Welsh, you are encouraged to reach out so the team can address it right away.
